Dr Mungadze gives Herschel Walker, 'Man of the Year' awarded by Operation of Hope in Los Angeles C.A. 10/4/2008
Operation of Hope had their October 4th "Night of Smiles" Celebration; in honor of the article in People magazine about "Beloved”. The event was held in Los Angeles, at the Dorothy Pavilion Center. There was a VIP reception, followed by a dinner and awards show filled with many celebrities and reporters from; People magazine, CNN, HBO, and many other magazines and news papers.
Herschel Walker was honored by Operation of Hope as "Man of The Year", and the award was given to him by Dr Jerry Mungadze of the nonprofit organization "Managing Life after Combat". People magazine was there to discuss Dr Mungadze’s work with military service members regarding his organization and his expertise on PTSD. Dr Mungadze and the director of his trauma programs, Deena Castleberry, attended the awards celebration with Leon Patillo, and his Wife Renee Patillo. Dr Mungadze was honored to meet the ambassador to the United Nations of Zimbabwe, and discuss the Renewing Your Mind Tour in South Africa in 2009, along with the Managing Your Life Team traveling with Dr Mungadze. The night was a very special night for both Dr Mungadze and Herschel Walker as they were introduced to Patty Duke, Paula Cole, and the Gold Medalist Bryan Clay.
